    3. Hi Gloria: Of course I have tons on the Adams family, nothing on Sultana, as her marriage license only states she is over 18. My friend did find a Sultana Coats in San Francisco on the 1930 census but I think she was Greek not indian. However we dont know whos assumption it was that she was iindian to begin with. The person I spoke to in MO says she wa and that their son had an indian name. Willis R Adams was born 1896 in Saint Joseph, MO. He married first in CA. Mildred Dorthea Larsen, they had 4 children, George in 1918 in Pawnee, OK; Scott Marion in 1920 (my husbands father) , in Osage Co, OK; Albert Leslie 1923 in Bolivar, MO; Wilma May in 1925 in Contra Costa Co, CA. They divorced and he remarried in Denver, CO. Edna Cecil Ocker in 1934 We think next would have been Sultana in 1939 having one son and separating (we dont know what happened there), Willis finally married Minnie Mae Johnston in 1949. They were married almost 25 years when she died in 1974 in Pawnee, OK. They are both buried in the IOOF Cemetery outside of Monett Mo I think the cemetery is in Lawrence CO. Willis died in 1984 in a vets hospital in Fayetteville AR. I have nothing on Sultana. 3. Didn't the mariage license give a location, such as Sultana Coats of Joplin or someplace. They usually do. Re: Greek on census I'm wondering if when asked nationality, Creek couldn't have been the answer. http://www.creekindian.com/ I can tell you with certainty that not all races entered into the census are correct. I've found people of Native American heritage listed as White and Black. In some cases they actually were, they had married into or been adopted into the tribes. They were even entered into the rolls as white/black. There are degrees of race, 1/2; 1/4; 1/16 and etc. There was a point when even though they were some Native American, it was no longer enough. http://www.comanchelodge.com/cherokee-rolls.html http://ngeorgia.com/history/creek.html Orlena Rose Adams <rosebud4242@peoplepc.com> wrote: Hi Gloria: Of course I have tons on the Adams family, nothing on Sultana, as her marriage license only states she is over 18.
