It is amazing what a letter to most libraries, along with a two to a five dollar donation will get for you. The donation often covers copy costs. There have been a time or two I have gotten nothing, once a reply and my money back saying they didn't have the manpower to do searches, and once my letter was passed to the local historical society that wasn't listed any where. The historical society pres. turned out to be one of my husband's third cousins and we hit the "Mother-Lode" for .28 cents postage and a five dollar bill.
