I keep getting: Imaging An internal error has occurred. Yes, I also believe the 1905 postcard is the earlier stand without the dormers. It has 12 front support posts. They apparently later built an uncovered section, then the larger 13 support posts stand with the dormers and connected them all. I've seen a couple of postcards that seem to indicate they may have removed the roof and roof supports and used the older stand that way for awhile. Anyway, the area seemed larger than the uncovered area between the two stands would have been, if the older stand had been completely removed. Usually by clicking on the enlargement feature in the bottom right corner, I can enlarge the attachment photo. This time it doesn't appear to be working. We do get a good view of the 1905 crowd. Note the lady above the 7, I'd sure hate to see the damage done to her skirt and petticoats. They'd have to be filthy also. Lady above the 90 seems to be just a little shorter length in white or very light color. Some of the other ladies seem more practical, if not as fashionable. The dormered stand in the Joplin Library postcard, doesn't show it very well, but it seems to have some box seats in front between the staircases into the stands behind the fence next to the track. The roof doesn't look like it extends over enough to more than possibly just cover it. http://tinyurl.com/ahx44 In the Buck Special racing picture Robert attached, people seem to be both in that area and behind a different fence next to the track. In your 1905 it also seems to have people between the stand and the fence. Are there any postcards of the Joplin Race track? I wonder if the same builder built many of the same type stands in the area? I don't know how long the Miami, OK racetrack has been there. Thank you so much for sharing your postcards and information. I do really appreciate the old postcards printed in Germany. Orlena
