Terry Terry, Your mentioning that Van Buren County was renamed Cass County made me think of something. We know that many counties were originally large, and they were later split into smaller counties. I wonder if Jasper County was one of the large ones that was split up, and McDonald County was originally part of it. Then Calvin could have moved from Van Buren to Jasper, then the part he lived in was split off as McDonald. This is all wild-eyed speculation, of course, but it's a possibility.
