Thomas came to the area from West Virginia after the Civil War and settled in Carthage. He is in the 1870 census and is listed in the Carthage business directory of 1883 as having a livery. His children were: Georgia Sue, John Homer, Bert Ernest, Myrtle, Mable Ethel, Neville Miller (my great grandfather) Harry Carter and Walter William.
