I am a distant cousin of his. Obituaries Published: 2005-12-04 Joplin (MO) Globe Elmer W. McMullen WEBB CITY, Mo. — Elmer W. McMullen, age 94, of Webb City, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, Dec. 1, 2005, at his residence. Elmer was born July 17, 1911, in Saginaw, Mo., to the late Guy McMullen and Lottie Johnson and had lived in Webb City the last 43 years. Elmer enlisted in the Army and served his country during World War II, being awarded 3 Bronze Stars. He was also a member of the Webb City V.F.W. Post 7630 and the D.A.V. Elmer married Lena Campbell. She preceded him in death on Sept. 26, 1973. They had one daughter, Leah Ann Sapp. He then married Ione Moreland in June of 1982. She preceded him in death on Jan. 28, 1992. He then married Madeline Eichelberger on Oct. 29, 1992, in Atlanta, Ga. She survives. Additional survivors include one daughter, Leah Ann Sapp, Jonesboro, Ga.; one step son, Howard Moreland, Webb City; one brother, Frank McMullen, Joplin; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Saginaw Cemetery with Rev. Gene Needham officiating. A procession will leave from the funeral home to the cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Hedge-Lewis Funeral Home. Elmer's middle name is Witt and Lena's is Rebecca.
