Also, if anyone here was familiar with the Jim West family of 1610 W. 26th St, Joplin - I would sure like to hear from you. My grandpa Jim was a painter of portraits and landscapes and also a songwriter/singer with a local radio show. One time someone sowed turnip greens on the Court House lawn in Carthage, Mo and he wrote and recorded a song about that, which (as the story goes) was fairly popular in the area. His father and mother (John and Cornelia West) had a diner called Ma and Pa's mostly Ma's there in Joplin. Served a meal of roast beef, ham or chicken fried steak, veg. roll and coffee for 15 cents, dessert would be jello or pudding of some sort. I am Jim and Jessie's grandson, my mother was Doris West.
