I have recently been looking for where his children went after his death in 1872. I suspect that his granddaughter Clara Amanda Bumpus, my grandfather's sister, was raised by one of the daughters of Dimmick after her mother died. I have found his son George in Carthage on the original farm in 1876 or 78, by then 200 acres. I hope to find him there in the 1880 census but I have yet to look. I also am trying to find where the daughters went and have so far only found marriage records to investigate. Amanda Fitzalan Lattin to Peter Long in Jasper Co., 1858, Eliza Ann Lattin to Duncan Johnson in Jasper Co., 1866 and Mary C Latten to Frank Long Jefferson Co., AK., 1884. Not sure that Mary is Dimmick's daughter as the name is spelled Latten and I don't have an age. There were several Long families in Carthage in the 1870's and only one Lattin family, so these are likely matches. Do you have any information that would h! elp me find them in a census?
