Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/1MB.2ACI/2119 Message Board Post: Looking for information on the family or Robert PAYNE, who was born ca 1825 in Marion Co., TN, the son of Robert (1791-1859) and Nancy McMAHAN (1803-1872) PAYNE. They were living in Jasper County by the 1860 census, living in the Sarcoxie township. Robert was killed in the Civil War, and Elizabeth was on the 1870 Jasper County census as a widow. They were not on the 1880 census of Jasper County. We know that they had the following children from the census records: Joanna PAYNE, born ca 1849; Daniel T. PAYNE, born ca 1855 in MO; Mary H. PAYNE, born ca 1858 in MO; James M. PAYNE, born ca 1861 in MO; and Robert T. PAYNE, born ca 1865. Was the James PAYNE who married Mary E. HURST on 27 October 1884 in Jasper Co. the same as the son of Robert and Elizabeth? I would really like to hear from someone in this family.
