His parents were Harry and Fern Holt Rohm. Looking for any informtion - birth, death records on my grandparents. I do not have date for Harry but know my Grandma Rohm (Fern) died on December 15, 1953. They are buried I think in Carthage but may be Joplin. I also know my grandparents use to run a small cafe in downtown Joplin (approx dates 1925-1943). Believe my father was a 1942/1943? graduate of Joplin H.S. and was a cheerleader. Any information is appreciated.
I was a classmate of Jimmy Rohm in Joplin High School. We graduated in May, 1943, six months after Pearl Harbor. I never saw James after we graduated. James was popular among other students and the teachers as well. Girls swooned over him. He was a good student, and he was personable. He was self-assured and had an air of sophistication. He was friendly with everybody. Another classmate was Bill Neal, who still resides in Joplin. Bill is the organizer of the reunions of the Class of'43. Bill has more records on the liiving 1943 graduates and on the fate of the others than anyone else you can find. I don't have his mailing address, but I'm sure I can come up with it if you would like to write to him. I am positive that he can be reached by telephone. The 1930 federal census for the Enumeration District 49-9 (Page 12A, 12 April 1930), 7th District, Joplin City, Jasper County, state of Missouri lists Harry W. Rohm (Head of household, age 42), Fern M. Rohm (Wife, age 42), James R. Rohm (Son, age 4), and Clarence H. Scott (Stepson, age 23). They were living at 436 N. Joplin Street. Harry was born in Missouri, and his parents were born in Indiana. Fern was born in Missouri, her father was born in Indiana, and her mother was born in Canada. Harry was the proprietor of a cafe. My guess is that you can find Harry's parents and grandparents in earlier censuses. Charles R.
