Hello List! Thought I'd pass this along... Peace, Brenda -------------------------------------- *snip* My name is Jim Martin and I'm the webmaster of the "New" Missouri in the Civil War Message Board at http://history-sites.com/cgi-bin/boards/mocwmb/ . Some of you know me through my Alabama, Arkansas, Indian Territory, Louisiana and Texas Civil War Message Boards and my "Civil War Message Board Portal", which provides quick links to all of the major Civil War discussion sites. For those of you who don't, I'm an amateur historian and genealogist in Houston, TX. The study of the American Civil War or War Between the States is a passionate hobby for me and my message boards are non-commercial sites. My websites are closely monitored for inappropiate content and I can block those who habitually break the message board rules. I do not allow highly-charged and emotional postings related to such subjects as the display of the Confederate Battle Flag. The Missouri in the Civil War Message Board is a "History-Only" sites where genealogists, amateur and professional historians, academics, authors and portrayers of living-history can post queries and responses regarding the subject of Missouri and Missourians in the War Between the States. There is a high-level of security on my sites as I utilize the most current message board/discussion group software. Individual users have complete control over how much or how little they wish to reveal about themselves. Posters email addresses are not revealed with their postings. I had not intended, at least at this time, to setup a site for Missouri, due to the availability of the MO-SCV, Missouri Civil War Index and Missouri in the Civil War Query pages. I have been encouraged by a number of Missouri researchers and friends to establish this message board due to the high-traffic (178,000 hits in February) and quality of the postings and participants on my other sites. The Missouri Civil War Index Message Board has been taken offline. The MO-SCV is at times slow, unrealible and tends to focus only on "Confederate Missouri". This only makes sense as it is a Sons of Confederate Veterans website. The Missouri in the Civil War Query pages are difficult to find and do not allow for responses or notification when someone has responded to your message. For these reasons and others, I have now made available and invite you to visit, contribute and link to the Missouri in the Civil War Message Board at "history-sites.com". Finally, for those of you whose interests extend beyond the borders of the "Show Me!" state, I'd also like to invite you to visit and bookmark the Civil War Message Board Portal at http://history-sites.com/cwmb . This page is fast gaining popularity with over 6,000 unique visitors in the month of February. Here you can quickly link to all of the major state Civil War Message Boards, including those at Rootsweb and Ancestry.com . I have already accumulated a group of expert researchers and genealogists who will be monitoring the MOCWMB and are ready and willing to help you and the visitors to your sites with your Civil War ancestor search or historical question. *snip* With best regards, Jim Martin The Missouri in the Civil War Message Board http://history-sites.com/cgi-bin/boards/mocwmb/ The Civil War Message Board Portal http://www.history-sites.com/cwmb/ Alabama in the Civil War Message Board http://history-sites.com/cgi-bin/boards/alcwmb/ Arkansas in the Civil War Message Board http://history-sites.com/cgi-bin/boards/arcwmb/ Indian Territory and Native-Americans in the Civil War Message Board http://history-sites.com/cgi-bin/boards/itcwmb/ Louisiana in the Civil War Message Board http://history-sites.com/cgi-bin/boards/lacwmb/ Texas in the Civil War Message Board http://history-sites.com/cgi-bin/boards/txcwmb/
