    3. Thank you. All the people listed except Dora are brothers & sisters. Dora is an aunt and my grandfather always referred to her as Aunt Mecklenburg. My grandfather told us he was raised by an aunt who was given custody of them by the courts in Nov of 1879(newspaper) due to the death of his father in Nov of 1879(Joplin- Historical Society newspaper clipping). Nothing was written about my ggmother. My grandfather thought she may have died at childbirth in May of 1879 birthing him. After the death of his aunt, he then went to live with his sister Anna(Miller). They did live in Michigan City, Indiana but I thought he was raised longer in Missouri. I guess not. Later her moved to Otsego, Mich where he worked, married and had 9 children. My father was the oldest and named after his mother's maiden name!! Is it possible that the census records list my ggfather as Jay or J Henckel? There are some references in the family that he may have been called that. Are there 1870 census records? I was told nothing exists in Mo due to a fire and all being destroyed. How would I go about looking for records of the Fairview Cemetery? My "Genealogy Fairy" Brenda in your area found all the info for me @ 1 yr ago that I've been able to locate in Joplin & even sent me photo copies of the newspaper articles from the Historical Society and a cemetery photo of my ggfathers grave. I have been in touch with a Norman Henckel in Missouri, whose gfather possibly was one of my ggfathers brothers or uncles. He says they came over from Germany thru New Orleans @ 1865 to avoid the Kaisers wars and Bismarks pranks. Gosh history is so interesting. Religious/political wars were profitable then & still are today in an odd way. Is Brenda the editor of the Mo Jasper site now? Thank you for your help. It is greatly appreciated. I am in Clev, Ohio- if there is anything in this area you need help with please let me know. -----Original Message----- From: katharan plemmons [mailto:katharan@hotmail.com] Sent: Tuesday, March 19, 2002 4:08 AM To: MOJASPER-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [MOJASPER] 1870 Census or Land Records I searched the index for the 1880 census and found only one Frank Henkle, born in Missouri.....No father in the household at all...and he is in Indiana...All the Henry's in Missouri were in the St. Louis area... Here is that household...You might try for the 1870 census to place him better....
