Does anyone have Ancestry.com? I have been told by a friend that Ancesstry has some of the ports and some of the years with an index. John Lortz/Lutz Sr. and his wife Mary C. Schantz and some of his first born children came to the United States in 1829 from Viederhausen in Hesse-Darmstadt, Germany. He was a shoemaker by trade. They settled in Cumberland County Pennsyvania for about ten years before moving to St. Clair, IL. One person told me that since they lived in Pennsyvania they may have come in by one of three ports: New York, Philadelphia or Baltimore. Hope someone might be able to help or give suggestions.
