It is available from the Family History Center of the LDS, and each volume has a surname index. Their website gives details on the newspapers and years covered. Also, you could request microfilm of the newspapers from the State Historical Society of Missouri via Interlibrary Loan at your local public library. If you have an exact death date, this might be your best bet, otherwise, you are going to be reading a *lot* of old newspapers. I find that fun, but it sure can make my eyes tired. Anyway, the State Historical Society of Missouri has a publican that lists all their newspapers on microfilm. You can buy it from them for $14. Their web site is: http://www.system.missouri.edu/shs/ This publication says that they have the following Carthage papers on microfilm for the dates you need: Weekly Banner: Mar 10, 1870 - Dec 23 1875 Aug 31, 1876 Feb 1 - Nov 8, 1877 Jan 3, 1878 - July 3, 1879 Jan 1 - Dec 3 1880 Jan 5, 1882 - Dec 29, 1887 Weekly Advance Jun 29, 1876 Jasper County Democrat Aug 20, 1884- Aug 21, 1885 Daily Patriot Jun 27, July 1, 2, 6, 7, Aug 11, 1876 Aug 13, 1877 - May 27, 1878 Jan 3 - Dec 29, 1881 Peoples Press [Many dates 1872-1881] Carthage Press 1881- 1882 and 1885 Republican Jun - Dec 1884 In Web City for 1870-1885 New Century Jan 5 - Feb 23, 1877 - Heather
