Seeking information on a child that was not orphaned nor adopted, but who lived at the childrens home in 1920s.
I am also interested in this information...my mother, aunt and uncle lived in an "orphanage" for about a year, sometime around 1908, give or take several years. Could be as late as 1915. Just not sure yet exactly when their mother died. She may have been in an institution for tuberculosis for quite some time previous to her death. The census records show their name as "McMillen", but my mother always spelled it "MacMullen". They were Leona Elizabeth McMillen, b. 1903 Thelma McMillen, b. 1907 Howard McMillen, b. around 1909 or so Their parents were William Wallace McMillen Pearl Noland McMillen Grandmother was Sophronia Elizabeth Noland Grandfather was Elwood Noland There was another woman in 1910 census, "grandmother", Susan Noland. I'm not sure just where she fits in. In 1910 the children and their father were living w/ her. This could indicate that Pearl was in a sanatorium at this time, and her family was living w/ an older relative, Susan. I have no information yet on the McMillen grandparents. Many thanks in advance....
