Call them, letting them know you are doing genealogy research on your family line, and ask them if they handled the arrangements for the funeral. When you find the funeral home that DID handle the arrangements, ask them to please send you a copy of the Record of Funeral. The funeral record is usually where the information for an obit is found, and sometimes there is quite a bit of genealogical information in the funeral record, if the informant is a family member. Sometimes, there is also a copy of the obit attached to the funeral record. The funeral homes in Joplin have helped me quite a bit in the past, so I wouldn't think there should be any problems.
