I've used it myself. You've also apparently been lucky. Unfortunately, Joplin, MO is in both Jasper and Newton Counties MO. People who die there live in other MO counties including the States of, KS, AR and OK. Usually the funeral home they use will be from where they lived, not necessarily where they died. Wanda R. Gibson, may or may not have lived in Jasper County and actually may not have died in Jasper County. Many people are unaware of the fact some of Joplin is also in Newton Co. The obituaries will not in many cases give enough information to determine where the person has died. For example: St. John's Hospital is in Jasper County across the street from Freeman's Hospital in Newton County. The obit may state died in a local hospital, which adds other hospitals in other counties, states depending on the time frame. I really hate died in an area nursing home. Unless you know where, this one is almost impossible to trace. I'm often amazed at how many people die in Joplin from counties away from Joplin. The only thing I've figured out is they were doctoring with a local Joplin area doctor instead of one, for example, in Labette Co. KS. There are frequently deaths in Joplin from Parsons, KS. There are some very very nice people who with a query of this kind with the info needed given, will do some research in the Joplin Globe microfilms at a library and send the obit.
