Have you tried getting a copy of his service record or Civil War pension record? If he was a soldier when he died, his widow probably would have filed for a pension. Pension applications have a lot of good information. These are available through the National Archives. http://www.archives.gov/genealogy/ ----- Original Message ----- From: "Doug Gist" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, January 11, 2006 2:31 PM Subject: [MOJASPER] I AM SEEKING INFO ON SOMEONE KILLED IN THE 1860s NAMED MARTIN GIST > I am seeking information on whatever happened to Martin Gist. My very old family notes state he was killed during the Civil War in the area of Carthage but I find no record of his death as soldier. His widow went on to raise their children in the area. Any help would be greatly appreciated. > > Doug Gist >
