My ancestor left his wife while she was pregnant with his second child (just because he thought the child was not his); and he married a young 'chick' nearby and had 13 more children. His brother went west leaving behind a wife & 14 'kids' just to get away from the hard feelings of the Civil War in MO. and none in the family wanted to go with him. His pension did go to his 1st wife. His obituary suggests that he married again out west.
