They had one son, Lawrence Elmer Jones. Joseph was born 18 Apr 1883 in Columbus Kansas and died 16 Sept 1943. He is buried in Fullerton Cemetery. Is there any local history known about this family? I can't find these two in 1910. Lawrence was living with his grandparents John and Kate Alms. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Deaths before 1910 are usually very difficult. I have no idea if this persons research is correct, or even if it's your Martin Greer. My great grandfather Elisha, who grew up in Tioga County, Pennsylvania, and who married Altheana Dann in 1856, was born about 1837. So although he also moved to the Joplin area (around 1883) with his family, he could not possibly be the Elisha Foster buried under the headstone in Carterville, that distinction belonging, without doubt, to 'your' grandfather! If you are still interested let me know and I will help if I can. Ray Foster was my uncle (actually my father's uncle). My grandfather was Ray's brother James. When I was a kid I sometimes spent a couple of of my summer vacation weeks with Uncle Ray and Aunt Melie at their place near Turkey Creek. I have a little info about Mahlon's family. I met some of his descendants a couple of times at Uncle Rays when they came on a visit from the Northwest way back around 1940. So I don't remember much! By the way, based on ages stated on various census data, I calculate Elisha's birth year to be 1837 and Altheana's to be 1836. The headstone near Carterville may not be the right Elisha. I would be very interested to learn anything about members of this family that settled near LaClede county, MO near Lebanon. Dad had family visitors from there but I was too young at the time to pay any attention to who they were. Bob Foster, copperock@hotmail.com I'm not in Joplin anymore so I can't look anything up but my sister may know where Ray is buried (d. in Jan 1940). P.S. Aunt Melie's full name was Mary Permelia Woodrow, not Amelia. And the restaurant was at the Connor Hotel. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Gayle, Unfortunately, I don't have CORNWELLs in the time period you're looking for. But I still think you might be related to my husband. One of his great grand aunts, Nancy CORNWELL, was married in Adair Co., KY and CORNWELL is a relatively uncommon name.
