    3. Candy, I'm curious about your grandmother, Mary Twitchel. Do you know which Twitchel's she came from? There are Twitchel's in Iowa, that came from New York, New Jersey. Is this the same line? And, great photo! What a lucky find for you! Grandmother died in Feb. 1920, then Grandfather and second wife appear in Springfield, Greene Co., Mo in 1930. I would appreciate any information anyone could give me. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: uofigirl Surnames: GEORGE Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.missouri.counties.jasper/4963/mb.ashx Message Board Post: While looking thru some old photos, I came across a bunch of photos showing my grandmother, Lavina GEORGE, her sister and brothers, and someone identified as "Cousin Bill GEORGE" or "Joplin Bill". I'm sure the Joplin Bill was to keep him separate from her brother Bill. The photos seem to be from the 1930s, given the make of the car, and my grandmother is identified as Lavina GEORGE, so it would be before her marriage in December 1940. Her father, John GEORGE, is not appearing, so these may have been after his death in 1935. Photos were taken in Flora, Clay, Illinois... I am assuming that the Joplin they refer to is in Missouri. He is there with a woman identified as his wife, but wife is in quotation marks. (Similarly, the woman my Great-Uncle is living with is referred to as his "friend".) Joplin Bill would have been born in the 1890's or early 1900's. His father would have been either Gilbert GEORGE or William L. GEORGE. Grandfather would be William L. GEORGE. Gilbert, William (Jr), John George were orphaned as minors in 1874 - the boys were sent to live with different families, and I lost track of Gilbert and William after their mother's probate file is closed in 1876. I'd love ANY help in trying to chase down this lost section of the family! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 3. Now that name of Johnston and town of Monett, Barry county has perked my interest big time. What do you know of that Johnston family? I have been trying to find out who my dad's stepmother's family was and she either never knew or has never said much. Her name was Virginia Mae Johnston and she first married someone with the last name of Storm which was very brief before going to Joplin and then marrying my grandfather Everett R. Schreiner when she was 16. I have been told she had an older brother and they lost contact early on and she also may have lived with an aunt while growing up. Any insight if you have it on Johnston of Monett, Barry, Mo would be greatly appreciated.
