I don't know if my relatives were members of the church you have the directory for but I thought I would take the chance and ask if you have a listing for a Caleur\ Calor family. I have a post card written to my grandmother from her cousin dated 3-12-1920. It was sent from a Joplin, Mo. address. My grandmother's handwritting is on the back where she wrote her cousins name as Billy Caleur on the front the spelling is Calor. I'm guessing she didn't know how to spell his last name. At the time the postcard was sent my grandmother would have been 8 or 9 years old. If you have time to check I would appreciate that. 1. Re: [MOJASPER] 1920 Elementary Schools of Carthage
    2. Tere, There was a Twitchell Genealogy that was published back in the 1920s that runs about 800 pages. If you have Twitchells/Twichells in your family, I'd be happy to look them up in the genealogy for you. My line, unfortunately, is one of the 'lost' lines. We're in the genealogy, but my 3rd gr grandfather's parents are incorrect, so we can't go any further back than him. Another Twitchell researcher and I have been working for a number of years to correct the errors in the original genealogy and update where we can. That being said, I am aware of NY/NJ Twitchells, but I would need more information to pinpoint the ones you are looking for. Please contact me privately if you would like additional information on this family. Yes, I was quite excited when I saw the photo! I have her Carthage High School diploma, too, which is quite large, impressive and actually is on skin. I've been in contact with the Powers Museum about donating it, and they said they'd like to have it as they don't have one that old. I just need to get out to Carthage, as I'd prefer to hand deliver it, rather than entrust it to the postal service or some other carrier. Author: Orlena39 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.missouri.counties.jasper/4966.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: This is most likely the correct Fairview Cemetery. Find A Grave can also be a good research source. www.findagrave.com Has only 2 Thickston interments in it's entire database at present. There are 31 Thixton. http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=cr&CRid=28673&CScn=Fairview&CScntry=4&CSst=26&CSsr=21& There is a cemetery listings of burials for the Fairview Cemetery at Joplin, but they can still be difficult to find. The listing doesn't always agree with the marker, or there may not be one. ~~~~~ I only have HeritageQuest for census research, it has only a head of household search, and I found very little for the Thickston surname. Even the obvious spelling errors didn't add many more. I just discovered via, www.familysearch.org that Thixton brings more results, which you probably know. Even with all the various spellings added together, they are not in large numbers. Search for 1930 is not yet available. Unless they are in the census under yet different spellings, there wasn't many of them, or they managed to miss more enumerators than even some of my families did. This, I believe may be the correct family, even though it doesn't totally agree with the death certificate. As with the census, the info is only as good as the informant's knowledge and recorder's transcription. They could have married in KS, MO or OK. He could have been mining in the tri-state area. ~~~~~ Jasper County Records & Research Center 125 N. Lincoln Carthage, MO 64836 (417)359-1100 As I understand it, this is a good place to inquire about any information about Jasper County Missouri. If they don't have the information you are after, they may know where it is. I have used them to find out if the Jasper County Courthouse had the desired Marriage records. I have gotten the names as they appeared in the records with the book and page numbers for their location. I was then able to write the Courthouse and request these records and receive them without having to wait for them to look for them. I have also been helped when looking for cemetery and other Jasper County information. They do appreciate a written request for their records. Their fees, when they apply, have been reasonable. I have gotten some easy quick answers via telephone, anything requiring time and more research I'd be sure to first write and send them a detailed letter. ~~~~~ http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mojasper/genie.html I have had good luck with the Joplin Public Library as well. They will check their obituary index, and if available email you a copy of the item. Their rates were also reasonable. It's been awhile, and everything else has increased in price. Reference Librarian Patty Crane Reference Desk Telephone 417-624-5465 ~~~~~ http://www.linkpendium.com/genealogy/USA/ also has a surname search. http://www.linkpendium.com/genealogy/USA/MO/Jasper/ I hope something here is of interest and help.
