My last message has some errors. The sections should read 21 instead of 27 and 28 instead of 23. The corrected message is given below: Sharon wrote: <<I am searching for records of Allen DIXON. I noted on the Township map several differences from the 1870 census townships. Does any one know what the name of Galena Township was in 1870? Sharon>> I have a copy of the 1876 Atlas Map, Jasper County, MO, and it shows Galena Township just west of Joplin Township. So it was there in 1876; however, can't offer any info on 1870. Now re: Allen Dixon, I have some info on Judge Dixon. My mother's sister Nancy Hope MILLER, married Chester (Chet) DIXON, a son of Allen Dixon. Allen owned land in sections 21 and 28 of Township 28 North, Range 33 West in 1876 and I know that Chet owned land in section 21 when I was growing up in the 30's and 40's. Contact me if you wish additional info. John ned72@webtv.net

My mother is a "Wood" born and raised in Wright and Greene Counties in MO. I don't know how reliable her 87+ yrs. memory is at this time... but she says that her grandmother, Nancy Ann Rogers, was raised by HER sister, Harriet (Rogers???), and Harriet married a man whose family name was "Heffner or Hefner". This would have been in the 1880's give or take 20 years, since my mother was born in 1920 and "Harriet Hefner" was alive at that time because my mother said her siblings and many of her cousins often went to "Aunt Harriet" for advice. I believe Harriet came from TN (as did all the Wood, Rogers, & Foster lines in my mother's family)before MO. Now, as I said, my mother's memory, at this point is somewhat weak, and she (of late) has been "mixing up sides" of her family in conversation to me. So, the other family names involved (in case she's got them reversed) are Denison, B! oyer, and Lassiter (these, I believe, are on her mother's side -- who was a Denison who married a Wood). Hope any of this helps you, since your msg. that I am responding to said "any Hefner info. in MO at all". VTY, Jean Fisher-Coogler --------------------------------- Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! Hello... Am trying to find out anything about my husband's gr-grandfather. Wilburn Marion Randolph. b.8/28/1840 d.12/07/1906 buried in Carl Junction, MO. He served in the civil war in Company "A" - 10th regiment - Missouri Cavalry. I am trying to find out who his parents were. I believe he was born in Missouri and lived there all his life. I have sent for his pension papers, but they don't mention his parents. His first wife (unknown) died in 1890 in Cedar Valley, Taney County, MO. Second wife was Hallie Dail Martin b. 6/10/1876 d. 1954. I would appreciate it if anybody with any information on any Randolph's in this area would contact me. Thank you, Mrs. R. fredstev@pld.com
