    3. Hi all, I'm looking for information on George F. O'CONNOR b. Aug. 1877 in PA. Info I have is that he was "raised" by the Winn family in or around Scammon from about age 11 (1888). I don't have names for any of the WINN family. One possibility is that George may have been an Orphan Train Rider since he ended up in the west apparently alone. I did find him in the 1900 census in Empire City KS living in a boarding house of the BLACK family, so the area seems to be right. Would be fantastic if there was an 1890 census to check but don't we all wish for that! Also, George F. O'CONNOR married Maggie WITT in Webb City in 1906 but have not been able to locate marriage cert yet. Nothing at the courthouse from my request. Would appreciate any info on him or the WINN family to help fill in the blanks. Blessings MaryBeth

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/1MB.2ACI/2119 Message Board Post: Looking for information on the family or Robert PAYNE, who was born ca 1825 in Marion Co., TN, the son of Robert (1791-1859) and Nancy McMAHAN (1803-1872) PAYNE. They were living in Jasper County by the 1860 census, living in the Sarcoxie township. Robert was killed in the Civil War, and Elizabeth was on the 1870 Jasper County census as a widow. They were not on the 1880 census of Jasper County. We know that they had the following children from the census records: Joanna PAYNE, born ca 1849; Daniel T. PAYNE, born ca 1855 in MO; Mary H. PAYNE, born ca 1858 in MO; James M. PAYNE, born ca 1861 in MO; and Robert T. PAYNE, born ca 1865. Was the James PAYNE who married Mary E. HURST on 27 October 1884 in Jasper Co. the same as the son of Robert and Elizabeth? I would really like to hear from someone in this family.

    3. Thanks Ronya, Looking thru a rootsweb co. connection I have found the street names of Webb City. There is a Prosperity and a Prospect in the town as wall as a Prairie Flower Rd. I don't know which one the census taker is working on but right now I'm guessing they abbreviated the street name. As a result I have put in a request to the Webb City library genealogy section to see if they have a copy of the 1910 census. Maybe if they have a copy theirs will be clearer and they can tell me the street name. Thanks much for your response, Roberta Hall ----- Original Message ----- From: "Liaphaylen" <liaphayle@yahoo.com> To: <MOJASPER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, October 26, 2002 9:18 PM Subject: Re: [MOJASPER] Webb City Street name info. > Roberta, > > Going west from Main St in Joplin, you have Joplin St, > Wall, and Pearl. 3. Sorry Eve, Because it's a subscription it wont let me transmit the image as a attachment. I would have to print it out and then scan it to a file then I would be able to send it. I looked at the Rootsweb county list for Jasper county. In it I was able to locate street names for Webb City. There is no Prairie but there is a Prospect and Prosperity. I wonder if the census taker abbreviated the street name. Also on this web site there is a map for Joplin, Webb City and Carthage area which had the local cemeteries marked out. On this map there is a Prairie Flower Rd. I don't know what time frame the map depicts and from what I know it's not in the general location where my family members where known to have lived and worked. i.e.. 1900 living on Pennsylvania Ave. 1907 proprietor of a shop on Daugherty St. possibly living at this location. 1910 the street name I can't read. 1915 his daughter is living on w. Mineral. 1917 passes away and is buried in Webb City Cemetery. Sounds like I have a lot but I only have dates. I wish when I was in Webb city this summer that I had more time. We were there on a weekend and everything was closed. I was hoping to find a photo of my g-great grandfathers shop or the locations where he lived. I guess I will have to make another trip there some day. In the mean time I have sent a request to the Webb City library to ask them if they have a copy of this 1910 census and if they can read the street name. Thanks for your interest though.
