I will send you a few others via email. I was surprised that I did not have an real photo of the building, just early postcards. Jane Chinn Hospital is still standing. It closed in the late 1980's and stood vacant for many years. Recently the back part of the building has been remodeled and is now used as apartments for the elderly.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/1MB.2ACI/2911.1.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Kathy, Thankyou so, so very much!! Yes, I and the editor of Western New York Heritage magazine sure would like a pic of the hospital. That documents his continuing career as an architect after leaving Buffalo, NY. My next move is to see if I can find anything he did in Houston, TX. His personal life is questionable - looks like two divorces. Can't find anything on 1st wife, Jennie Louise Van Slyke, prior to 1882 and his 2nd wife, Gertrude Smith (married in 1905), claimed to be a widow in 1930 but he lived until 1940....sigh, such is life in the fast track!!! He married both gals in Buffalo - 2 children from 1st wife and 3 from 2nd. His parentage came out of CT, son of a prominent doctor of homeopathy. Address....Joan Sambrotto 53 Greenhill Ter. West Seneca, NY 14224 Please let me know if any fee is involved. Sincere regards....Joan

Caulkins. If you would like a picture of the building, I can send you one. Kathy

I am in the process of writing a biographical sketch on Frank Caulkins for a local magazine. I would like to confirm that he was the architect for the Jane Chinn Hospital and would appreciate it if it's found to be so. There are many buildings & homes in Buffalo to his credit but I would also like to submit something on his career after relocating to Webb City. E-mail [email protected] Joan Sambrotto
