I'm researching the surnames: JACKSON Fisher Baird Schoffner Thank you, John Murnan
Sorry about that. I just assumed the mother-in law of Elias Shaffer would be the mother of his wife. I wasn't thinking of mother's late marriage, resulting in a different surname than daughter. Yet it happens all the time. Never ASSUME, but I still fall in that bottom less hole from time to time. Orlena Darin <[email protected]> wrote: Thank you, I had seen the 1920 census. DUNCAN, John and Catharine. This was my great great grandfather and is listed in the 1850 census of Jasper County with two children: David W and Delilah. Also living with them was David Waldo Duncan which could have been his brother possibly. He does not appear after this census, but the wife and children do in Dade County in 1860 and she is now married to a Barry Buckner.
My father, Weir Budd, was given to Fannie May Moon in 1915 who was at that time married to Charles B. Moon. Charles Calvin Budd was my father's father and he died in 1915. Charles Moon passed away in 1919 and she then married a Lee V. Allen. I have his obit but don't know that much about him. I have had people try to locate him on the 1920 and 1930 census in Jasper county and they don't seem to find him. He is listed in the 1913 Joplin, Mo. City Directory working at Picher Lead Co. Also in 1914. He is 1916 directory listed with a Mary A. In 1917 directory listed Allie M. By 1920, 21, and 22 he is listed with Fannie. Fannie passed away in 1925 with cancer. She did not have a stone on her grave and my father placed a stone that had her name (Fannie May Allen) and Under that (Mother). He had only one picture of her and has told me on more that one occasion that was the only mother that he had. I am not sure this is much help but it is all I have on Lee V. Allen at this time. My surname in Jasper County is HALL. Would love to know more about my great great grandparents, Joseph and Sarah Hall, who lived with their children in Jasper County in 1850. They were in Laclede County by 1853. Also - Martin Hall, who lived next door in 1850 census and was a schoolteacher. Phyllis Carpenter Colorado

I understand that there was a lot of going back and forth between MO., KS., & OK., so try going over the state lines into the adjoining counties, even in your census searching.
