Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/1MB.2ACI/2086.1 Message Board Post: I can give you some useful information on Amanda Melugin's mother, Mary Polly Mitchell Melugin. I am a Mitchell descendant rather than a Melugin. Mary Polly and her sister Sarah, who married Jonathan Melugin and died in Illinois (probably Lee Co.), were daughters of George and Susanna Betts Mitchell of Bucks Co PA. There were also at least 2 sons: Thomas, b. 1777 Bucks Co PA, d. 1830-40 Dickson Co TN;and Samuel, b. 1783 Bucks Co PA, d. 1830-40 Dickson Co TN. Thomas (my ancestor) was married to Sarah "Sallie" Brown. Samuel was married to a Seals and may have had a 2nd wife. George Mitchell deeded Joseph Melugin land in Dickson Co TN in 1812 and there are a number of other deeds in Dickson Co showing Mitchell/Melugin interactions and connections. There is a lot of information on the Mitchell and Betts families in Quaker records in PA especially in the Bucks Co area. I have more details if you want them.

Surnames: Mckelvey, Cahil, Frame in MO Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/1MB.2ACI/2966 Message Board Post: I am looking for further information on the family of Alexander McKelvey b ca 19 Sep 1786 Ireland & Jane Cubit or Cahil b. ca 1788 Ireland, both died in Meaville, Crawford, PA. Been unable to find the graves, wills, ect. Parents of Andrew Mckelvey b 16 Jun 1814 Ireland, died 20 Feb 1940 in Union, Jasper, MO, who married Allie Frame on 20 Feb 1840 in PA. This couple had 9 children all born in Meaville, Crawford, PA: Margaret, Jane , Thomas, Eliza, Alexander, John, Zachariah, and Jacob. Then the family moved to Jasper, Mo in abt 1845. Cliffton Haggard, who is deseased, had information that Andrew immigrated with his parents from Ireland to the US when he was 7 yrs old locating near Frederiscktown, Cecil, MD. Alexander was a carpenter and joiner and helped build the US Capital in Washington DC. After a few years the family located in Meadville, Crawfore, PA. This researcher also stated that Andrew had 3 brothers James b ca 1809, Alex b ca 1816, and Charles b ca 1816. Born in Raldoph co., Illinois????? Does anyone know anything about these 3 brothers, the exact date when this line of Mckelvey's entered the US, or any information on Alexander and Jane????? I am looking for documentation and haven't been able to find the ship record yet. I am also trying to go back in the line. Any information would be appricated. Our Mckelvey bible records state that this family was from Cork County Ireland, but other researchers say Belfast, Antrim, Ireland. My information is on roots web under family trees, Andrew Mckelvey. Look for my e-mail address. Celeste Mckelvey

Let them know how you are related, since they sometimes won't give information to non-relatives, altho I've not had any problems with any of the funeral homes in Joplin. Good luck!

    1. Missouri death records online
    2. Ron Grassi
    3. I thought you all might like to know that you might be able to find some of your ancestors or relatives that passed away in Missouri. This information came from the site I am going to be adding afterwards; Death certificates contain valuable information for family historians and researchers. The Missouri Death Certificate Database, containing deat h records created after 1910 and over 50 years old, makes that information available online through a searchable index that links to a digitized image of the original death certificate. The index can be searched by first name and last name, county, and by year and month. Once a name is selected, a digitized image of the original certificate can be retrieved. This is an ongoing project and additional records will be added as they are transcribed and imaged. If the image of the certificate is not yet available researchers can request a photocopy of the certificate by contacting the Archives Reference Desk . For death certificates less than 50 years old please contact the Missouri Bureau of Vital Records. The web site is; http://www.sos.mo.gov/archives/resources/deathcertificates/ I've been able to find and actually print out some of the death records for people in my genealogy database. Good luck in your search! ciao! Ron

    1. Joplin City Directories 1900 - 1920
    2. M. Thelma Feese
    3. Is there someone on the list that has access to Joplin city directories? I'd like to know when Charles Everett SCOTT and his wife Lizzie (Elizabeth?) first show up in the directories. In 1900 they were in Barton Co, Missouri. By 1910 they had moved to Joplin. It is assumed that Lizzie died (no proof) after 1910 as Charles and his two sons, Chester and Guy were in Everett, Washington by 1918. Charles remarried soon after that to Jennie T. _____?
