Mr. Jerome D. SMITH, the active superintendent of the Union Stock Yards yesterday received from the employers, a very neat recognition of his genial manner toward them and a substantial token of their personal regard in the presentation to him of a beautiful silver lantern, valued at $25 made by the popular manufacturers, M. M. Buck & Co., St. Louis. The lamp was plain but highly finished, and engraven with the inscription "To Supt. Jerome D. Smith, from his employers." Mr. SMITH was most agreeably surprised and is as much pleased, evidently, from the good will of his men as from the gift itself. We wish, with the "boys," that it may ever prove a safeguard for his feet through life. ====================================================== (I have no connection with this family but I'd appreciate knowing if you found this posting helpful.) johnobrien@kc.rr.com ====================================================== neirbo10 Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
