Detectives ENNIS and BOYLE raided the rooms of Herbert WILLIAMS, in the Mercantile building at the southeast corner of Sixth and Wyandotte streets yesterday. They secured a complete opium smoking outfit, the most perfect, the police say, that has ever fallen into their hands. The detectives arrested WILLIAMS in his room and charged him with vagrancy. They claim he has been keeping an opium den in his room for some time. The room is situated on the fourth floor of the building. Ah SING and Sam WISE, who have laundries in the vicinity of the Mercantile building, went to police headquarters yesterday afternoon and identified two of the pipes found in WILLIAMS' room as having been stolen from them. ====================================================== (I have no connection with this family but I'd appreciate knowing if you found this posting helpful.) johnobrien@kc.rr.com ====================================================== neirbo10 Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
