    1. Obit look-up: Jennie Fletcher Price & Clarks (KC, St. Louis to Quincy, IL)

    3. John Can you do an obit look up for Jennie Fletcher Price? She ended up in Kansas City from Bunceton, MO and died June 28, 1954 Also -- I am a little confused about Jackson and St. Louis County boundaries and when they were created. In 1920 I find my great grandparents: Charley and Ella (nee Thompson)Clark on the census in Jackson County, MO. But I can't not find them with their parents or alone prior on any other census. The census notes Charley's father was born in Kansas -- and I've been told via family interviews that possibly Charley was part Cherokee Indian. In 1920 Charley and Ella are living with someone whose last name I can't really make out VAIRCE? Looks like Charley (35) is a janitor for an apartment building and Ella (39) is a cook. I was reviewing the Greenwood Cemetery Records on film via the Western Historical Manuscript Collection which has the burials on film. I found an Ella Clark buried in January 1945. This cemetery I've been told is the oldest and largest African American Cemetery in St. Louis. Some of the burials from 1874 to 1908 are now online at: http://www.usgennet.org/usa/mo/county/stlouis/greenwood/ The death records I have been reviewing have been from the 1940-1966 period on film and are not available (as far as I know) as a publication. If anyone knows otherwise about the availability of Greenwood Cemetery records as a published document from 1874 to 1966 I would be very interested. But I can not find Charley and Ella with their son Clarence (or other siblings?) on the census. Clarence ends up in Quincy, IL in 1930 married to Bethaline Smith and has 3 children: Mary, Albert, Hazel and stepdaughter Dorothy Tebbs. Bethaline was born in Kirksville, MO in about 1865 to William Smith and Mary Johnson. These are my grandmother's (Mary Ella Clark) parents. Clarence and Bethaline are buried in the Greenmount Cemetery in Quincy IL.. they died in 1971 and 1978 respectively. There is a Charles Clark buried in Block F -- Lot 5 who died in 1933 -- but I can't tell if this is my Charles Clark or not. I don't know where Hazel Clark is buried either. I've been told that he was married to an Ellen Clay -- also from Bunceton, MO. Clarence served in the army in WWI -- and was born April 17, 1895. The military service index on the Missouri State Achives website notes that he lived on 4230 COTE BRILLIANTE SAINT LOUIS, MO. (Does anyone know if this street still exists?) http://www.sos.mo.gov/archives/soldiers/details.asp?id=A22242&conflict=World%20War%20I&txtName=Clark,%20Clarence&selConflict=All&txtUnit=&rbBranch=Army/Marine (I still haven't figured out completely how to request military records). My grandmother -- Mary Ella Clark married William Wilson Sr in Palmyra MO -- I believe this is Marion Co., MO? William's father was Nathaniel P. Wilson -- also from Bunceton, MO -- he was a preacher at Second Baptist Church in Columbia, MO for some time; but was also a traveling minister it seems conducting marriage ceremonies for African Americans. Nathaniel founded a church in Quincy which I think was called Friendship Baptist. Nathaniel's wife Ruth (nee Smith) Wilson is also buried in the Greenwood Cemetery in Quincy Il. Ruth died in 1943 and Nathaniel is buried in the Soldiers & Sailors Cemetery. It appears that after 1920 -- many of my family members from Bunceton MO migrated to Kansas City & St. Louis MO and the Quincy, IL area. Thanks Traci Wilson-Kleekamp www.missouri-slave-data.org
