    3. MECK, PRATHER, SCHAIBLE "The Kansas City Times" (Missouri) Tuesday, November 3, 1914 FLURRY OVER A JOINT RAID. The police on the Kansas side raided a "joint" at 425 Minnesota Avenue last night. Five cases of beer were seized and the proprietor arrested. Soon John F. SCHAIBLE, a Democratic candidate, gave bond for the accused. Later Kirk PRATHER, Democratic candidate for probate judge, went to police head- quarters and berated the police , saying they discriminated, that he knew of dozens of "joints" that were permitted to run. While he talked, someone called the county attorney, J. M. MECK, who arrived and started to take PRATHER's statement under oath. PRATHER thereupon backed down and declared he knew of no places where liquor was sold. ====================================================== (I have no connection with this family but I'd appreciate knowing if you found this posting helpful.) johnobrien@kc.rr.com ======================================================
