Dear Sylvia & all others who are interested: My maternal grandfather was named Frank Knight Kennedy (1875 - 1929), & he said the best job he ever had was as a "street railway conductor." Yes, that's what they called them in those far-off' days. My maternal grandmother & some friends were taking the streetcar home from someplace or other, & that's where they met, in about 1890. So the person you're looking for was probably a "street railway conductor. Mr. Kennedy departed this vale of tours (heart-attack) about one month before I arrived, so I never got a chance to meet him. Too bad! They say I'm a lot like him, so I'm sure we would have gotten along. Mr. K. was a farmer the last years of his life, & died out in Blue Springs. Hope this helps.
