"The Kansas City Times" (Missouri) Thursday, April 27, 1899 HE IS A WYANDOTTE BOY Trumpeter Percy BARSHFIELD, who is mentioned in the dispatches as being one of the men who stood with Colonel FUNSTON in the battle with the Filipinos around Calumpit, is one of the men who enlisted in the twentieth Kansas from Kansas City, Kan. The young soldier is a son of William BARSHFIELD of 400 Everett avenue, Kansas City, Kan., and when the war with Spain broke out, he was a student at the medical college in the city across the line. He enlisted at the first call and went with the Kansas troops when they were ordered to the Philippines.
