    3. "The Kansas City Times" (Missouri) Thursday, April 27, 1899 IMBIBE AND FEAR NOT. Since the present smallpox scare, the physicians have been frequently appealed to by frightened individuals for some preventive for the disease. In most instances vaccination was resorted to, and the arms of hundreds of school children were bared to the virus points, but for older persons the doctors have a much more agreeable safeguard. One of the most prominent physicians in the city says that there is no better way of avoiding the disease than by the absorption of plenty of good corn juice, and yesterday there was a noticeable demand for jugs at the crockery establishments, and the joints did a thriving business. ====================================================== (I have no connection with this recommendation but I'd appreciate knowing if you find corn juice helpful.) :) johnobrien@kc.rr.com ======================================================
