"The Kansas City Post" (Missouri) Saturday, March 7, 1908 IT'S JUST THE SAME OLD STORY. It's just the same old story, Johnny KLING and Tom HUESTON met last night in their near-championship match. Johnny is about as near champion as he will ever get, for the dope shows that HUESTON is going to increase his lead again tonight. Last night KLING did well for nine frames, but blew up in the stretch. As a result the total score now stands, HUESTON 452, KLING 263. Last night's score by innings follows: HUESTON - 14, 4, 15, 2, 15, 0, 0, 5, 3, 15, 15, 15, 11, 4, 15, 15: total, 148. KLING - 0, 10, 0, 12, 0, 15, 15, 9, 12, 0, 0, 0, 4, 10, 0, 0,: total, 87. Thomas HUESTON, the champion pool player, who is meeting Johnny KLING at the Empire hall this week, increased his lead over the local expert last night. KLING, however, was in much better form than Wednesday night, while the champion was not at his best. KLING got busy yesterday with a set of ivory balls in the BRUNS parlors, and was much better able to judge his shots last night than in the opening game. Several of his shots were well worth the applause they received. The score was as follows: HUESTON - 10, 1, 6, 12, 12, 5, 5, 2, 12, 15, 15, 1, 9, 9, 1, 11, 15, 5 = 146 KLING - 4, 13, 9, 3, 3, 9, 10, 13, 1, 0, 0, 14, 6, 6, 13, 3, 0, 10 = 117 High runs ---- KLING 23, HUESTON 17. =========================================== "The Kansas City Post" (Missouri) Thursday, March 5, 1908 HUESTON OFF IN THE LEAD.. Tom HUESTON, the pool champion, made a human cue rack out of Johnny KLING, the local expert, last night in the first block of their 600-ball continuous pool match. The champion was in his best form and gave a remarkable exhibition. He kept KLING in a chair most of the time. KLING played far below his usual form and was a great disappointment to his friends. The second block will be played in the Empire pool hall tonight at 8:15 o'clock. =========================================== "The Kansas City Post" (Missouri) Tuesday, March 3, 1908 HUESTON TO ARRIVE TODAY.
