Has anyone been to the main library downtown in KC? I live in KC, but havent ventured down there since its not the safest place for a girl to go. I thought I would ask to see if its worth the risk to go dig through what they've got? I spend most of my time at the Gen Lib in Independence MO. Any thoughts? ----- Original Message ----- From: <VanetteHobbs@aol.com> To: <MOJACKSO-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, February 15, 2004 2:36 PM Subject: Re: [MOJACKSO] Jackson County Obituaries? > An FYI in case some on the list are interested: > > The Kansas City Star has been around since September 18, 1880 when it was > called The Kansas City Evening Star. The old KC library is closing its doors. The new Central Library will be located at 14 West Tenth Street, Kansas City, MO 64105. The grand opening will be sometime in March. Go to kclibrary.org to find the resources available there. The new library should be worth a trip just to see the beautiful building that is housing it. Misty, the downtown library is closed. It's being relocated to a renovated bank building a few blocks away. I went to the main library every week ...... usually on the weekend (easier to park), and although there were a lot of "street people" is was perfectly safe. On a week day, there are a lot of office people around, so you may feel more comfortable going down during the week. The library is suppose to re-open about March 15.
