Well folks, I am neck-deep in the middle of a mystery and I am in hopes that someone who reads this might be able to help!! My great aunt 'Lela Dorothy Gay DuPree' married Arthur M. Miller in Kansas City, Mo. in 1914. Lela died on July 18, 1916. Now, I have two obituaries for Lela. One is from the Stillwater Gazette (Stillwater, Payne Co., Okla.) and the other is from the Kansas City Times (Kansas City, Jackson Co., Mo.). Please read those two obituaries below: Stillwater Gazette Mrs Arthur Miller Mrs Arthur Miller, formerly Lela DuPree, died in Kansas City Monday, age 23. The body arrived in Stillwater Thursday noon and funeral services were held at the home of her father, Edward DuPree at 3:30 in the afternoon. Her husband survives her. There were no children. End "The Kansas City Times" Wednesday, July 19, 1916 Mrs. Lela Dorothy POTETT (should be spelled 'Poteet'), wife of Arthur W. POTETT, a musician, died yesterday morning at the Wesley Hospital. She was born in Stillwater, Ok. She lived at 1200 Paseo, and had lived in Kansas City three years. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward DUPREE of Stillwater, survive. The funeral will be at 4 o'clock this afternoon at the home. Burial will be in Stillwater. Mrs. POTETT was 22 years old. END I would like to know if anyone knows anything at all about Arthur M. Miller or Arthur W. Poteet? I need to know if these two men are the same man and, if they are, why he went by 2 different last names. Was one or the other of the names a 'stage' name?
