They must have rebuilt as in microfilm I have from state archives, Polly Ann Kelly, the widow, got a lot of lumber in 1867 or so to make repairs on the house through estate and their friend, attorney George Buchanan, that administered the estate.? I also find where Polly sued George and her children for some reason and I have to return to library to use microfilm reader.? I need to read some good histories on area in that timeframe. Just joined Mid Continent Library for twenty bucks, hope I can find more. Thanks again,? John met his maker in 1861, age 51, buried in Woodlawn Cemetery with many of family, Independence MO.?In 1860 census was listed as a Justice of the Peace, lived on se corner of Square, Lot #23 (now a filling station).? Named his son George Buchanan Kelly after his friend, George Buchanan, a prominent Lawyer of Indep., that administered his estate for Polly Ann Davis Kelly.?Son George went on to be editor of the Moberly Monitor, Randolph county, had a gold mine, then a chain of theatres in Los Angeles, died after being hit by car in LA.? George was also married to one Lillian Jennings Sidenstriker. John & Polly educated their girls at Woodland College which was located site of Harry S. Truman Library per research.? Sons George B. and John Harrison education unknown at this time.? John H. and his family farmed in Leeds Missouri, Blue Township, location still unknown.? Moved also to Los Angeles.? John H. is buried at family plot in Indep, Woodlawn.? John Harrison married Kitty Bates, produced one son?and many daughters.? Majority of family buried at Inglewood cemetery in Los Angeles. My major research here is John and Polly and possible connection to other related?Kellys'.? I am related through John Harrison Kelly/Kitty Bates daughter Ruberta, my grandmother Reynolds. Have not found a death certificate or info regarding demise of John, my gggrandfather.? 1861 was a bad time on the border and I can find no other records.? Have joined Jackson county?historical society and Mo state historical society in my quest for information.? Just maybe something will surface.
