Pryor, a Colorado horse breeder, against Thomas Hurns, a Chicago turfman, for the possession of the racer Willingham, returned a verdict shortly before noon today in favor of the defendant and assessed his damage for the detention of the animal at $1. Willingham was sold to Hurns last spring by one Kane, in whose charge Pryor had given him, for $125. The horse afterward began to show his good points and improved greatly in form. Pryor repudiated the sale by Kane and replevined the horse in Kansas City, claiming that Kane had no authority to sell him. The case has attracted much attention among horsemen and several well known turfmen testified during the trial. Willingham won at New Orleans yesterday.
