Not 5 minutes ago, someone sent me a v. short article from the Fort Wort Star-Telegram, 9 March, 1922, which says that "Hugh C. French, 34, a drug addict made a signed confession.....[that he] shot Dodge when the latter surprised him when he was about to force an entrance into the Dodge home, bent on robbery."
