Good Evening all, Today I contacted and received an email from Fr. Michael Coleman, Archivist for the Catholic Diocese Kansas City - St. Joseph regarding the records for girls in St. Joseph's Female Orphan Asylum. This is what he wrote: Ms. Murphy: St. Joseph Orphanage was the orphanage for the girls. It was run by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, a St. Louis based religious community. The records for the orphanage are in the custody of Catholic Charities. Their information: Catholic Charities Attn: Judy Thompson 1112 Broadway Kansas City MO 64105-1574 Phone: 816.221.4377 x 335 web site: www.catholiccharities-kcsj.org Good luck! Fr. Michael Coleman
Thank you for letting us know this information. I'll keep it on file for future use when someone asks about the orphanage.
