Tootsie, What time frame are we talking about for a death record? Before 1910 some are online; after that they are on file in Jefferson City up to 1950-something, I believe it is. (I should know but I forgot to write it down when I was there). The certificates I have show parent's surname and the funeral home and burial place; also cause of death and sometimes the person who gave the personal information. If you go in person you can request up to 10 certificates at a time and they charge $1 each then mail them to you at no additional charge -- quite a bargain. There are books for each year (several books for WWI and WWII years -- very sobering) with names in alphabetical order, so all you need is the name and approximate death date; the county and certificate number are listed after the name. I don't know what they charge for mail order requests, nor how they handle them. I go to Jeff now and then. If what you are looking for is after 1910 and before whatever the cutoff date is, I'll be glad to look for you if you're not in too much of a hurry. Vanette in Columbia, MO
