Goff Bedford 1977, Vol, II, "Upper Howard Creek Baptist Church", pages 374-375: "...in the Haggard-Quisenberry-Bush-Hampton area...the southern half of Clark County...established in what was to be known as Ruckerville...organized April 3, 1802...The work did well in the next few years for in 1811, the membership had grown to 147. Jesse Wilcox was added to the messenger list...The church is referred to in the October Court 1816 as Dry Fork Meeting House...In 1811, a building committee has been appointed consisting of John Gibbs and Jesse Wilcoxon, trustees, three acres on Dry Fork, a branch of Upper Howard Creek..." Note: Howards Creek Church, later called Old Providence Church in 1790 was on Lower Howards Creek about 7 miles south of Winchester in Clark Co., KY.
