    3. DODSON, FISETTE, KUEHNL, MATNEY. MORGAN "The Kansas City Times" (Missouri) Tuesday, February 12, 1918 Mrs. Missouri MATNEY, who was born in 1839 on a farm near Westport, died last night at her home on the Shawnee Road near Argentine. Mrs. MATNEY was the widow of John R. MATNEY, and both were pioneers of Jackson and Wyandotte counties. Mrs. MATNEY was a daughter of William and Sarah MATNEY (sic?) and was the youngest of a family of thirteen children. She was born soon after her parents settled on the farm near Westport, which is now a part of the Country Club grounds and was named after the state in which she was born. With her husband she moved to the farm in Wyandotte County in 1866 and had lived there continuously until her death yesterday. She was the mother of eleven children, seven of whom are living. During the war they were in that section neither solid North nor sold South and were in danger from both the raiders of Quantrell and the notorious Red Legs, a band of robbers. Their cattle were driven off and they were frequently forced to seek safety in the woods that then covered that section of the county. She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth MORGAN and Mrs. Charles E. DODSON of the Kansas side, Mrs. Rush L. FISETTE of Rosedale and Mrs. Edward KUEHNL of Fond du Lac, Wis., and three sons, David B. MATNEY, Vinita, Ok,; Albert J. MATNEY, Argentine, and Henry MATNEY, Kansas side. The funeral will be at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the home. Burial will be in Argentine Cemetery. ====================================================== (I have no connection with this family but I'd appreciate knowing if you found this posting helpful.) johnobrien@kc.rr.com ======================================================
