I have a Mrs. Mary Burwell marrying a Joe Smith on March 1 1911 in Linn Tennessee. There is also a Mary J Burwell living on the 1930 census in Mercer Penn born 1851 Penn Widow, and Ethel Fox next to her and an Eva S Robinson. There are 2 marriages for Floyd Burwell the last one in 1928 Jackson Co Mo. There is a SS death notice for a Floyd Burwell in White Plains NY. My guess is that Mary J went back to Kansas and got married again and has another surname at death. If you get your request for a tomb stone picture on Winnie Marie you will have the death date and then can email Mid Continenet for an obit which should give the name of her Mother at the time of death. Good luck, you have a hard one to find. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Mrs. Catherine J. SEELEY has filed a motion for a new trial of the divorce case in which her husband was granted a decree. The motion is merely a formal proceeding, as an appeal has already been taken in the case to the court of appeals. In the affidavit, filed by Mrs. STEELEY in support of her motion, she states that she cannot support of herself and her two children with the allowance made by Judge HENRY and ask for greater alimony. The account of Miss Ida SEELEY's abduction by her mother, after her convalescence, was published in "The Star." Mr. SEELEY states that he will support his daughter Ida if she will live with him. The expense of Miss Ida SEELEY's sickness was borne by Mr. SEELEY. ====================================================== (I have no connection with this family but I'd appreciate knowing if you found this posting helpful.) johnobrien@kc.rr.com ====================================================== neirbo10 Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. A delegation of the friends of that popular official, in convoy of a large clock of the grandfather species, rapped at the portals of his elegant home at the hour of eight. The clock was a birthday gift for Mr. PHENIS and was intended to call his attention to the flight of time at proper intervals. Express Messenger Elston WHITTLESEY, who was shot by train robbers last Friday morning near Cimarron, Kan., and who is at his home, 1420 Montgall avenue, is suffering intensely from his wound, but is in a fair way to recover. The wound was made by a bullet from a 45-caliber Winchester rifle. The ball tore through the outside and inside lining of the express car, which flattened it, and when it struck Messenger WHITTLESEY in the side it bored a ragged hole through his body which will be a long time in healing. The excessively hot weather aggravates the wound, especially so at night. Express Messenger JOHNSON, who relieved WHITTLESEY after the latter was shot, and who ran the car through to Los Angeles, has returned and brought with him as a relic of the hold up a piece of the car door with a bullet hole in the center, which he will have made into a clock shelf. He said that he counted thirty-three bullet holes in the car, and the outside was literally peppered with buck-shot. ====================================================== (I have no connection with this family but I'd appreciate knowing if you found this posting helpful.) johnobrien@kc.rr.com ====================================================== neirbo10 Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I've seen those type postings ....... it's just too much to read and too confusing trying to following the family connections. However, a posting that has: "looking for cemetery and/or obituary for my great-grandmother, Mary PERSON who died in Kansas City on May 13, 1943" will get a lot of attention. You may not get a lot of replies, but many people will check the books that they have. If they don't find anything, they probably wont reply. At this point I assume you don't have a date and you're not even sure the person was in Kansas City. Good luck with your research. Which is nice. I hate making inquiries with detailed info and getting almost no results at all. I simplify the inquiry and BOOM! I am overwhelmed with results. I don't get it. It seems that when you make your inquiry intriguing, yet vague, people reply to find out more, in the hopes that they can help. Yet when you take your time to detail everything and provide all info beforehand, the inquiry just sits there, doing nothing. I am trying to find the following info. ------------------------------------------------------------ I am trying to locate info and burial sites for some people who are likely buried in Jackson County, possibly in the Kansas City area. The main object of this inquiry, Mary J. (Schreiber) Burwell Lightner, is found at the end of the list. Floyd Burwell Born: 9 Jan 1889 Died: 13 Mar 1966 Flora Ethel (Offineer) Burwell Born: 4 Nov 1889 Died: 19 May 1967 William Lightner (One death record states that a William Lightner, possibly the one I am after, is buried in Green Lawn Cemetery.) I can't give any birth or death date info because I am rather unclear on it. The marriage license with Mary mentions that he was born in Independence, Missouri though. ------------------------------------------------- (I have removed Mary's other child as I have since discovered that she is likely buried with her husband in Higginsville City Cemetery.) ------------------------------------------------- I am hoping that there is a Mary J. buried with one of these people. She was a Schreiber from PA and I have been unable to track her down. I have no clue what surname she died under. She was last married to a William Lightner. I found a William Lightner in the Missouri Death Records which may be him. However, the record states that he was divorced. If it was, in fact, him, then Mary could be buried under any name. None of the Mary Lightner death records I looked through were correct. None were indicated as having come from Pennsylvania. The closest was Ohio. And as for Mary's birth info, that is also rather difficult to say. I believe she was born around 1864 in Pennsylvania. However, in the census records where she is an adult, the year gets younger with each census. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
