"The Kansas City Times" (Missouri) Friday, April 14, 1899 ROBBED BY THE ZEPHYRS T. K. FOSTER, a well-known merchant on Minnesota avenue, in Kansas City, Kan., came unexpectedly in contact with a bunch of Kansas zephyrs and was robbed of about $100 in bills yesterday morning while en route to the bank to deposit his day's receipts. He carried the money in a bank book in his hand, and when crossing Sixth street on Minnesota avenue, a swift breeze attacked Mr. FOSTER and he was in a miraculous manner, relieved of the money. The bills were carried by the wind into the deep elevated railway tunnel under the street, and when Mr. FOSTER descended the stairway in a jiffy to recover his money, he could see bills darting about the track and soaring over head --- they were scattered everywhere along the track and there were a half dozen men and boys following them with outstretched hands. After nearly an hour had been spent in the chase to recover the money, Mr. FOSTER quit the task. When the money was recounted it was discovered that he lacked but $8 of recovering it all. ====================================================== (I have no connection with this family but I'd appreciate knowing if you found this posting helpful.) johnobrien@kc.rr.com ======================================================
