Hello Missouri Researchers: For those of you who have a deep interest in how, when and where your Surnames were formed I would like to direct you to 5 new pages we have recently added to our web site. Many researchers have for years believed that all ancestors with the same Surname were at some point related. That is simply not true. When you get back to proving your pre 1500s ancestors you will discover that there are in fact many Surnames that have passed through many families that have no relationship whatsoever. The 5 pages mentioned also contain information on many Forenames and their creation and some of the pages are large so relax and take your time. THE ORIGIN OF THE SURNAME PART 1 THE ORIGIN OF THE SURNAME PART 2 THE ORIGIN OF THE FORENAME FORENAMES OF WOMEN AND THEIR SIGNIFICANCE FORENAMES OF MEN AND THEIR SIGNIFICANCE .......................................................................... There is much information here that should be of interest to all. Go to our web site at: http://www.linkline.com/personal/xymox/ Once there enter the link titled "ORIGIN OF SURNAMES & FORENAMES" this will take you to the index for the 5 pages. For those of you who are AOL members you may have trouble connecting to many pages that may come up with a message such as "Page Does Not Exist" and you can cure that by using your browser feature of Copy and Paste the URL to your browser and then enter from there. All pages contained within our web pages are free for viewing and study by all interested researchers. The very best to you all. Enjoy. Harold Oliver Director America's First Families

Hello, I am new to this list and am so hoping someone will be able to help me locate my grandmother, Louise MATCHETTA. I know so very little about her. I only found her two times on the census and both times it was a different marriage. On both census, she said she was born in MO. and her parents came from France. I can't find a thing. I know no names or places. I was always told growing up that her family came from France. Going by the census, she was born about 1888-1889 in MO. The 1910 census has her married four years. Her husband was Harry Levey age 27 born Ohio, their son Richard Levey age 2 months born in Kansas City, Jackson Co. MO WD7, Louise age 21and Great Aunt Sarah Whelan age 88. I don't know where any of these people went. I do know Sarah was b. in Nova Scotia, died 6/18/1911 in ?? maybe Mo. She was living with them. I only think I found Harry on the 1920 DallasCo,TX census married to a Lottie born in CO. I never ever found Richard (my Dad) again on any census. Then I found Louise on the 1930 census in Dallas, CO. TX remarried to Jessie M. Cardwell. I have no idea who her parents were, where they went or for sure what area they lived. I don't know where Louise and Harry married. I do know my father was a strict Catholic, so I would think he was baptized Catholic and I know where he is buried. I don't have any idea where Great Aunt Sarah fits in at all or where she is buried. Would someone be able to help me? I have been trying for four years to find this family. I looked in the 1900 MO census, hoping I could find Louise but no luck. I tried Kansas and Nebr. no luck. My father had no birth cert and his mid wife was Mrs. Bowers from 526 Jackson Ave. Kansas City, MO. Jackson Co. WD7. My grandparents lived 500 Park Ave. Chelsea Park. I found that information on a paper my grandmother wrote. I know some lineage on Sarah but don't know where she fits in. I know Louise must had went to school and I thought she may have stayed in the same county she grew up. Thank You for ALL your time and help. Millie- state of Delaware
Hello Janis: We do not keep messages very far back. I did notice your message on the Pritchard's from the 13th. This time of the year is slow for the mailing lists as many people are on vacation. Your message will go into their archives and no telling when someone can answer. You may try reposting your message to the MISSOURI list and also I would urge you to subscribe to the PRICHARD family list and post it there and people have moved around and you may catch a relative living in another state who may have some information for you. The very best to you and yours. Hello Everyone; As most of you are aware the question of genealogical frauds and hoaxes must be of concern to genealogists and researchers since so much information out there is very questionable. We have several pages on our web sites that will be of great help to you in understanding what the problems are. We have updated one of the pages in our Fraudulent Lineages area. The page in question is titled; BEWARE OF THE SOURCE HOAX Many of you are quite aware of some of some of the ways frauds and hoaxes are committed and you may need to review your lines to see if possibly they may contain some of the situations we cover. The URL for this page is; http://www.linkline.com/personal/xymox/fraud/hoax.htm For those of you who are AOL members you may have trouble connecting to many pages that may come up with a message such as "Page Does Not Exist" and you can cure that by using your browser feature of Copy and Paste the URL to your browser and then enter from there. Dear List: I am new to this List and am hoping that someone can assist me. My great-aunt, MARY ELLEN SNOW PRITCHARD and her husband, JESSE(IE) W. PRITCHARD, moved to Independence, Missouri from Fulton County, Kentucky (western) sometime after 1900. I have found them on the 1910 Independence City, Jackson County, Missouri census but haven't been able to locate them after that. We know that they were of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints religion and oral family history indicates that Jesse was a carpenter and went to Independence to assist in building of the temple there. Mary Ellen SNOW was born in October 3, 1847 in Kentucky and Jesse W. PRITCHARD was born February 26, 1850 in Tennessee If anyone has City Directories, Death Records, Funeral Home records, would you please check for the above-listed names. Thanks so much for your help. Darlene: I checked the Jackson County marriage index (brides) and there were no CHRISTISONs listed at all. I also checked for following names, but Ruby, Opal, or Pearl were not listed: CHRISTENSEN, CHRISTENSON, CHRISTIANSEN, CHRISTIANSON. I did find the following for the surname CHRISTION: 1917 Opal T. CHRISTION - Gaylord R. LIONBERGER (book 70, page 616, file 76571) John ----- Original Message ----- From: "Darlene Mingus" <mamads@InternetOutlet.net> To: <MOJACKSO-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, May 29, 2004 10:32 AM Subject: Re: [MOJACKSO] KC Marriage Index > John, I would appreciate it if you would look for the daughters of > Lewis/Louis Christison. This is a sad thing indeed... Although I am in Oregon now, I am originally from Ray County Mo. and also lived many years in the Kansas City area. I belong to many 'lists' and have been doing research on my JOY, BERRY, FORBES and allied families for over 10 years and never, until now knew that the Heart of America Gen Society existed. Could this have been a large part of their problem?? Not working at making their presence known? Although I live at a distance, I would have certainly been in close contact with them, trying to make connections with heretofore unknown relatives. So sad to lose another bunch or 'root seekers'!
