John, I would be so very grateful if you can find either Perry Bales or Elizabeth Adamson Bales. They were both alive in the 1880 census and are said to have died in Ray County, but have not found any burials for them yet. Hi List, This is my first posting to the Jackson Co. list. I am looking for relations of Harold and Esther Stewart. Harold was born in Mo. in 1914 and died in Hidalgo, Texas in 1986. In his obit it says he had a daughter Barbara Roades of Blue Springs. Ronald's parents were Cleo and Ethel Stewart and Cleo's parents were Charles A. Stewart and Susan Abington. Charles was the brother of my gg grandfather John T. Stewart who settled in Washington state. I would like to make contact with any relations of Harold and Esther. Karen
As I mentioned before, in addition to posting to this Mailing List, I've posted the same death lists (and birth & marriage lists) to the Jackson County (MO) and Wyandotte County (KS) Message Boards on RootsWeb. The same death lists were posted to each board, whereas birth & marriage lists were posted to the appropriate board because when they were printed in the newspaper, they identified people being from Missouri or Kansas. To search for a name in my previous postings: 1. Go to the Jackson County, Missouri Message Board or Wyandotte County, Kansas Message Board. 2. Click "Advanced Search" 3. Click circle for search within "Jackson Board" or "Wyandotte Board" 3. enter family surname in all lower case letters in "find messages containing" box 4. Click "search" 5. If you only want to see my postings for the name you entered in step 3, enter "John O'Brien" (without the quotes) in the "by author" box To see the death lists I've posted, do the following: 1. Go to the Jackson County, Missouri Message Board or Wyandotte County, Kansas Message Board. 2. Click "Advanced Search" 3. Click circle for search within "Jackson Board" or "Wyandotte Board" 3. enter "kansas+city+area+deaths" (no quotes but include the pluses) in "find messages containing" box 4. enter "John O'Brien" (no quotes) in the "by author box" 5. Click "search" The above steps will not bring up my most recent postings until the computer base files are updated, which takes about two weeks. I was wondering if anyone can help me fine a death notice in the newspaper or from funeral homes. I don't know were to look. I have found some things on my half brother that died in Jackson County. His name was Robert L. Clark born June 3, 1939, and died Nov. 26, 1962. What I understand is that he was born in Independence were his mother Inez Stone and his father Harold Clark lived at the time. His parents were married in Aug. 19, 1938. I don't know anything about his mother. I do know that Inez mother first name was Bertha. I can't tell much from the marriage license. Bertha had a different name at the time that Inez married Harold. Any information would be helpful Debbie.
Well folks, I am neck-deep in the middle of a mystery and I am in hopes that someone who reads this might be able to help!! My great aunt 'Lela Dorothy Gay DuPree' married Arthur M. Miller in Kansas City, Mo. in 1914. Lela died on July 18, 1916. Now, I have two obituaries for Lela. One is from the Stillwater Gazette (Stillwater, Payne Co., Okla.) and the other is from the Kansas City Times (Kansas City, Jackson Co., Mo.). Please read those two obituaries below: Stillwater Gazette Mrs Arthur Miller Mrs Arthur Miller, formerly Lela DuPree, died in Kansas City Monday, age 23. The body arrived in Stillwater Thursday noon and funeral services were held at the home of her father, Edward DuPree at 3:30 in the afternoon. Her husband survives her. There were no children. End "The Kansas City Times" Wednesday, July 19, 1916 Mrs. Lela Dorothy POTETT (should be spelled 'Poteet'), wife of Arthur W. POTETT, a musician, died yesterday morning at the Wesley Hospital. She was born in Stillwater, Ok. She lived at 1200 Paseo, and had lived in Kansas City three years. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward DUPREE of Stillwater, survive. The funeral will be at 4 o'clock this afternoon at the home. Burial will be in Stillwater. Mrs. POTETT was 22 years old. END I would like to know if anyone knows anything at all about Arthur M. Miller or Arthur W. Poteet? I need to know if these two men are the same man and, if they are, why he went by 2 different last names. Was one or the other of the names a 'stage' name? He was, after all, a musician so that theory seems plausible. Here is the 1920 census with Arthur Poteet on it: 1920 Federal Census St. Louis (Independant City), St. Louis Co., Mo. E.D.# 456 January 10th & 12th 1920 Household# 304 Page# 12 B Poteet, Arthur W. Head 24 yrs. Single B. Mo. F.B. Ky. M.B. Tx. Musician (Can't read what the next column says but sure wish I could!) Sarah M. Mother 55 yrs. Widowed B. Tx. F.B. Ky. M.B. Ky. Housekeeper Hotel END Any help at all would be VERY much appreciated!!! Thank you very much, Karla --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Hello, I am hoping someone may be able to help me locate an obituary or any information on Edward Joseph Machette. The following is the last information that I have. Edward Joseph Machette, son of Samuel and Catherine Machette, born 1852 at the Machette's Ranch, Lincoln, CO; Nebraska. Married Agnes Bell Nye on 27 April 1885 in Bates, CO; MO. Agnes was born in ILL; in 1862, she died 1895 in Omaha, Nebraska. Her family and siblings had lived in Harrisonville, Cass, CO; in 1880. The last I was able to place Edward was in 1903. He was a printer, living at 924 Locust, in St. Louis, MO. Any information on either Edward MACHETTE or NYE family would be greatly appreciated. I have no death date for Edward and have not been able to locate any obituary at all. Thank you in advance for your time and help. Millie

Diana, Thank you so much for letting me know about the fact that you can get marriage licenses off the web. I was able to get 17 licenses that provided me so much information. It doesn't matter to me that they have "Unofficial Document" on them when you print them because it's the information that is so important. Thanks. It is just so nice to have the information, including birthdates in some instances. I was even able to get the marriage for the gentleman and his wife who came to see me from Independence. Do you know anyone who ever goes to Jefferson City to get actual copies of death certificates? If you do, would you please let me know. I just don't want to wait up to 6 months to get them. We are enjoying absolutely beautiful weather right now - mid to low 80's and sparking blue sky. The Farmer's Almanac says we are in for a hard winter but we are praying that means a lot of rain. We are in our 5th drought year. Have a wonderful night.
