    2. Well John this Keller name sure attracted my attention. For sometime I have been going to join the Platte County list as I knew two Keller sisters there that had an antique shop in Riverside for many years. I am researching my Keller side also. Isn't this something. My grandmother and grandfather lived in Merwin, Mo...sooooooooo there may be an association. Will let you know if I learn anything. Your posts this morning were quite interesting. Vivian

    3. I found this death record online and the date of death is 18 Feb 1895 for Macy C. ALLEN. She could be my great great aunt. I have found family in MO but they were not even aware of her name. It gives no cemetery. IF anyone can help me I would certainly appreciate it. I can send for a print copy but my question was would there be more information on it than what I just wrote. 1. Re: [MOJACKSO] Death records
    2. Tootsie, What time frame are we talking about for a death record? Before 1910 some are online; after that they are on file in Jefferson City up to 1950-something, I believe it is. (I should know but I forgot to write it down when I was there). The certificates I have show parent's surname and the funeral home and burial place; also cause of death and sometimes the person who gave the personal information. If you go in person you can request up to 10 certificates at a time and they charge $1 each then mail them to you at no additional charge -- quite a bargain. There are books for each year (several books for WWI and WWII years -- very sobering) with names in alphabetical order, so all you need is the name and approximate death date; the county and certificate number are listed after the name. I don't know what they charge for mail order requests, nor how they handle them. I go to Jeff now and then. If what you are looking for is after 1910 and before whatever the cutoff date is, I'll be glad to look for you if you're not in too much of a hurry. Vanette in Columbia, MO

    3. Tootsie, I've never seen a Missouri death certificate but another thing you can get is an obituary. Could be a lot of family data in the obit plus the cemetery. Once you have the cemetery, you may run into a lot more family. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Tootsie" <thelmamarie55@earthlink.net> To: <MOJACKSO-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, February 24, 2005 1:14 PM Subject: [MOJACKSO] Death records > I think I have found a great great Aunt's death online. 3. Sue, thanks for your note. I don't understand what you're doing (I'm slow!) but regardless, I've never seen any "official" abbreviations for counties. I assume your looking for abbreviations like for states. Sorry I couldn't help.
