We know by the 1900 census MO that Phoebe Corlew nee Roof was a widow, residing with her three living children, Reuben, William F., and Elizabeth. Elizabeth was b. c. July 1887, MO Joseph Corlew died between July 1887 and June 4, 1900. I suggest you contact the Mid-Continent Public Library in Independence, MO and request a search for his death record and newspaper obit. The records at the MO SOS are not complete, and here's how I know. My great grandmother, Catherine Burke nee Martin, died in a freak accident with an electric streetcar in 1904. Her death record is not at the SOS site. But I did have her date of death, so I wrote the library and got her death record and the newspaper obit. Perhaps you have already thought of this, but if not, I hope it helps. Carol Have the obits on the wives and children and nothing about Lucas or Joseph. Haven't been able to find them in find a grave. No one that I talk with who researchs the Corlews knows anything except for what I have told you. Hoping someone out there might know something. At this point, I want to find out because I really want to know what happened to these 2 men. Phyllis Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 1. [MOJACKSO] McVIGH & WEST - Kansas City, KS - July 1922
    2. John O'Brien
    3. "The Kansas City Times" (Missouri) Monday, July 3, 1922 WANTED TO LODGE IN A MEAT MARKET. A boy was captured in John WEST'S meat market at 449 Minnesota avenue, Kansas City, Kas., by Patrolman David McVIGH. The boy gave his name as Carl JONES, Omaha, Neb. He said he was 16 years old. He entered the store through a rear door which was not locked, he said, searching for a place to sleep. The police will ask him to explain in court why the refrigerator door and the drawer of the cash register were opened. ====================================================== (I have no connection with these families but I'd appreciate knowing if you found this posting helpful.)
